The 22nd Kennel Club Hunt, Point & Retrieve Championship was held on 18 & 19 November at Faccombe Estate, by kind permission of Faccombe Estates Ltd. The event was graciously sponsored by Skinner’s, Sporting Saint – Gundog Training Equipment and BASC – The British Association for Shooting and Conservation
An excellent two days hosted by Headkeeper Bobby Heaver and Underkeeper Johnny Macey which saw the top qualified Hunt, Point & Retrieve dogs showing their talents at this expansive southern estate.
The varied terrain of woodland and rape crop fields concealed plentiful game for these hunting breeds to hunt and find. The weather wasn’t always in the favour of the dogs, with the cold temperatures and light snow fall making for challenging scenting conditions, but those in the awards were rewarded for their hunting efforts with some lovely points and retrieves across the two days.
The judges Suzi Burton and Roy Cullen handled the two days with skill and attention to detail, many thanks to them for their hard work in separating these talented working dogs.
