The Cocker Spaniel Championship was held on 2 & 3 January at Ayot Shoot. Generously hosted by Mr & Mrs Nall-Cain and Mr Clive Colclough, and kindly sponsored by Skinner’s, Sporting Saint – Gundog Training Equipment and BASC – The British Association for Shooting and Conservation
The bracken filled native woodland held plentiful game for the two days which provided the working cockers ample opportunity to show their hunting and retrieving skills. Some excellent dog work was witnessed and the judges, Aled Jones, Stuart Morgan, Eddie Scott and Steve Winspear did a brilliant job of identifying the talents of the dogs and handlers.
Thank you to all the Working Party, guns, helpers, volunteers and spectators for making the Championship such a special event.
Commendations to those who qualified for the competition and huge congratulations to those competitors in the awards, in particular Championship winner Mr James Elliott.
