My love for dogs began when I started my beating career at 12 years old watching Billy Steele Snr work his dogs. Since then, I have been fortunate enough to be surrounded by dogs in my years as a gamekeeper. Laterally, I have enjoyed getting back into competing with my Labrador, Askit, in working tests and trials, as my career changed course and took me into a “normal” job, with “normal” working hours.

I got into photography during the pandemic when some of us had more time to pursue new interests. From there, I photographed at some of the Scottish gundog working tests, and this has grown new opportunities. I have been fortunate enough to photograph at various gundog events such as Scone Game Fair, the Skinners World Cup, KC Springer Spaniel Championships and the 2023 IGL Championship for retrievers. I love the atmosphere of these events and seeing the handlers and dogs tackling the retrieves. One of the best bits is seeing my photos in publications such as the Gundog Journal and BASC.
In my spare time, I enjoy training my dogs and have recently branched out with a Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla. We regularly have groups of people training with us in SW Scotland, and use a variety of Sporting Saint products to help challenge the dogs. Particular favourites are the launcher ball, to lay down scent for a dog to follow.
I am really excited to be invited by Sporting Saint to be their Field Sports Photographer.
